O Scale Winter-Spring 2008 Progress
During Winter-Spring 2008, the GSMRM O Scale group has been busy with the scenery area between Midway and the Zenith yards. The base plaster work is ready for rock castings. A five stall roundhouse has been added to the Midway engine terminal. A new siding from Midway track 28 up to the oil refinery is being built. Also this Winter, we replaced the double slip switch at Post Road to improve connections to the passenger yard.
Additional infra red train detection for improved dispatcher control have been installed along block 5 (this area now blocked by scenery). Two abrasive type track cleaning cars were custom built to improve our operations.
Work on the On3 scenry has also continue with most of the visible areas now plastererd and some textureing and tree work completed. A new stamp mill was built and installed. Trains can now run on the Palisade division.
Design work on the computer interface prototype (OSCI) continues. A panel has been added for control of the Post Rd and Passenger areas. The latest JMRI has been installed on the Mac development computer and also tested on the club Windows 98 PC.
Work on the remote control of the Post Rd junctions and passenger yard from the Arrival control panel is continues. Route relay boards and block relay boards are installed at Post Rd. A route realy board for the Passenger panel is underway. Coax cable is installed for use of X10 remote video cameras.
