During the summer months, we concentrated on coloring rock castings on one section of the south mountain. This work continued through the fall.
Infra red location detectors were added to the Zenith Division blocks. This provides operators better information on train locations in obstructed locations. The project to convert signal controllers to DCC compatible operation was started and about 30 signals have been converted so far along the Departure and Arrival loops. Using DCC controllers greatly simplifies the wiring and allows easy signal logic programming with OSCI/JMRI. Also, signals were added to the Passenger yard leads.
The OSCI computer was replaced with a similar unit due to an apparent virus problem. The new computer has improved video cards and will be set up with three monitors for overall layout view, division views, and dispatcher and throttle views. In addition, there is a monitor on the walkway for viewing the layout status.
